Thich Nhat Hanh (Thây to his students) was an extraordinary human being. Through his teachings, lectures, writing, meditative centers, and worldwide retreats on the art of mindful living - he offered us a world of wonder we could all step into as well.
His living presence is sorely missed as we face a world gone sour and mean. In contradiction to his many key teachings. He taught that through mindfulness we can learn to live in the present moment instead of tied to the past or worried about the future.
Dwelling in the present moment is according to Thây the only way to truly develop peace - both in oneself and in the world. We take solace in these words and the art he left us with.

When we come into contact with the other person, our thoughts and actions should express our mind of compassion, even if that person says and does things that are not easy to accept.

We practice in this way until we see clearly that our love is not contingent upon the other person being lovable. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
